The first CATHY session for the year was held on the 19th of February, 2016 at the community library, between 23 pupils of Ikoyi primary school, Osborne road and Jinadu Anglican primary School, Akanbi Damola Street, off Awolowo road. The birthday mystery by Kara Hill was the book discussed and it is about how the pupils of a class gave their class teacher a birthday surprise throughout the week of his birthday.

They talked about birthdays and surprises that come with them. One of the pupils summarized the story and then questions for all. The guest read the most interesting bit for him because a blind pupil was given the opportunity to take part in the surprise they gave their teacher.

They were led on a tour of the library and had the rules and regulations explained to them before they were made members and allowed to borrow books .

Usually, the students are asked to continue the story and end it in their own way. Out of twenty-three stories that were submitted, three stories were selected and the writers awarded prizes. Andrew Joseph a male pupil of Jinadu Anglican primary school, Akanbi Damola Street, off Awolowo road came 1st, Loveth Edet a female pupil of Ikoyi primary school, Osborne road, 2nd and Rodiat Ilugbono a female pupil of Ikoyi primary school, Osborne road came 3rd. The session ended with a group photograph.
