Project Literacy: Why We Must Act Now

ZODML believes that everyone should have the opportunity to educate and develop himself or herself. That's why we're supporting Pearson PLC's new initative Project Literacy. The campaign aims "to facilitate, contribute to and invest in new collaboration and action on the evolving challenges and opportunities around literacy" over the next five years. But why literacy? In Nigeria, 39.7% of adults are illiterate (source). With 10.5 million Nigerian children out of school - the highest number in the world - it is imperative that we act now to provide all of our young people with access to education and guarantee a Nigeria that is free of poverty and which offers social and economic security to all.
